Our Daffodil Bulb Mix is grown right here on our flower farm in Whiteville, North Carolina. This mix includes a beautiful assortment of daffodils in varying colors, shapes, and sizes, creating a cheerful and unique spring display. Because this is a mixed collection, each planting brings a little surprise as the different varieties begin to bloom.
These bulbs have already been grown in our local climate, making them a wonderful choice for gardens throughout southeastern North Carolina. Daffodils are dependable spring bloomers that can return and multiply year after year when planted in the right location.
How to Grow:
-
Planting time: Plant bulbs in the fall, ideally November through December, once the soil has cooled.
-
Sun: Choose a location with full sun to partial shade, ideally receiving at least 6 hours of sunlight.
-
Planting depth: Plant bulbs approximately 6 inches deep, with the pointed end facing upward.
-
Spacing: Space bulbs approximately 4–6 inches apart. For a fuller, more natural look, plant them in groups or clusters.
-
Soil: Daffodils prefer fertile, well-drained soil. Avoid low areas where water stands after heavy rain.
-
Water: Water thoroughly after planting. Once established, rainfall is often sufficient, although supplemental water may be needed during extended dry periods.
-
Bloom time: In the Whiteville area, different varieties can begin flowering from late winter through spring, providing several weeks of color.
-
After blooming: Remove spent flowers if desired, but leave the green foliage in place until it naturally turns yellow and dies back. The leaves feed the bulb and help produce next year's flowers.
-
Naturalizing: Leave the bulbs in the ground after flowering and they can return and multiply for years. If clumps become crowded, dig and divide them after the foliage has died back.
From Our Farm to Your Garden: Since these bulbs were grown and harvested on our flower farm in Whiteville, NC, you're planting locally grown bulbs that have already experienced our southeastern North Carolina growing conditions. Plant them this fall, enjoy their blooms in spring, and leave them in the ground to enjoy again for years to come.
Bulbs will be ready beginning of October!
